The pressure was on Daniel Farke's leaders after victories for Sheffield United and Burnley on Saturday, with the second-placed Blades moving level with Leeds and the third-placed Clarets drawing within two points.

As told to news agency Press Trust of India on the occasion, Wangchuk clarified that Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Councils (LAHDCs) of Leh and Kargil were only given authority to spend development funds. He asserted that they should be given law-making powers too.

As elections in Jammu and Kashmir are drawing significant attention nationwide, the ongoing march in Ladakh has garnered less coverage. However, political figures like former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik have announced that he will join the march in October. Malik, known for his controversial views, was in office on August 5, 2019, when the BJP government abrogated Articles 370 and 35A. These provisions granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir, including Ladakh, particularly land rights, which restricted land purchases by non-residents. On that day, the government also bifurcated Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories: Jammu and Kashmir, with a legislature, and Ladakh, without one.

But Colby Bishop struck just after the hour mark to drag Portsmouth 10 points clear of the relegation zone, inflicting Leeds' first league loss since November.

Leeds arguably should have had a penalty in the 10th minute as Matt Ritchie kicked through the back of Dan James' leg inside the area,66br but referee Rob Jones was unmoved.

Both teams struggled to create chances throughout the first half, but Portsmouth were indebted to Nicolas Schmid for keeping it goalless after 38 minutes.

He got down to his right to parry Manor Solomon's drive, then sprang back to his feet to deny Joel Piroe and make it a remarkable double-stop.

Piroe had an even bigger chance five minutes into the second half, but he lifted his shot over an open goal, after Solomon rounded Schmid to put it on a plate for his team-mate.

And Leeds were punished for that miss when Bishop darted onto Connor Ogilvie's ball down the channel, before taking advantage of some hesitant goalkeeping from Illan Meslier to produce a dinked finish.

Junior Firpo had a shot smothered by Schmid as Leeds chased an equaliser, then the left-back crashed a header off the crossbar and saw the rebound turned wide by James.

Josh Murphy almost added a second Portsmouth goal when he struck the post from range, and John Mousinho's men needed another Schmid save in stoppage time, as he turned Sam Byram's header over to preserve their clean sheet.

Data Debrief: Leeds' long unbeaten run over

Leeds entered this game unbeaten in their last 17 league games (12 games, five draws), their best run since going 30 games without defeat under Don Revie between 1973 and 1974, when they finished as First Division champions.
